Like many rockhounds, as a young boy I found rocks and pebbles everywhere I went. From a young age I learned to look down – on the playground, at house building sites and in fields on farms in the Shenandoah Valley. As I grew older my horizons expanded to river beds, ocean beaches and karst outcroppings while hiking and camping with the Boy Scouts. On family visits to the many local commercial caverns I would save up and buy a specimen now and then, thus starting my official rock and mineral collection.

Over the years my wife and I have travelled the country, discovering the treasure of our national parks. We also discovered rock shows and rock shops all over the west. I decided to open this rock shop in my retirement to share my collection and spread the joy these treasures of the earth bring.
